“There are very few people that were using all of those features,” said Dashlane CEO JD Sherman in an interview Tuesday. In the process, choosing an encrypted service to safeguard and synchronize passwords among your devices and apps may get simpler now that three of four top services charge almost the same.įormerly a pricier outlier, Dashlane announced a $35.88/year Essentials plan Wednesday morning that covers use on two devices of the same password tools as its $59.99/year Premium service – without that bundle’s Virtual Private Network security and online identity-theft monitoring. Speaking of LastPass, the service recently announced some important changes to free accounts, restricting access to one device type.A month and change after one widely-used password manager service imposed the equivalent of a rate increase, another one just rolled out a substantial discount. The price of an Essentials plan is more or less the same price as other plans offered by companies like 1Password and LastPass. “This way, nobody feels locked into a plan, nor must pay upfront for the full year’s cost,” the company said.
In addition to the new Essentials plan, Dashlane is also introducing more flexible monthly pricing options for all of its plans, including Premium and Family. The Essentials plan also includes Secure Notes for storing plain-text information. Meanwhile, the plan also offers access to the company’s Password Changer feature, a one-click tool that will log users into compatible websites, generate strong, unique passwords, and then change the passwords for those sites on the user’s behalf.
Dashlane’s Essentials plan allows users to store, secure, and access passwords and personal information for an unlimited amount of accounts across two devices.
